8 Celebrity Electronic Cigarette Users
Smokers are well aware of the widely entrenched social stigma associated with puffing on analog cigarettes in public. Passersby often use dirty looks, or worse, a fit of dramatic coughing to demonstrate their disapproval of a public smoking habit. Celebrities in particular are under a tremendous amount of scrutiny to act as role models and eschew activities that could reflect negatively upon their careers. (Critics of the President, for instance, have made much of his rumored sometimes-smoking.) So it’s no surprise several famous smokers have given up tobacco smoking in favor of smoke-free e-cigarettes.
This list is far from complete- the number of former smokers embracing the option to use e-cigarettes increases all the time, and many celebrities may conceal usage of the device for fear that press and fans could assume they’re actually smoking real cigarettes. (The story about Leonardo DiCaprio, for instance, was originally reported as the actor smoking old-fashioned tobacco cigarettes in public.) Have you seen any celebrities using your favorite brand of e-cigarette?
Heigl praised the device, and did a good job of dispelling the myth that e-cigarettes are harmful or offensive to other people present.
Heigl said:
"You blow out water vapor so you're not harming anyone around you and you're not harming yourself. I'm essentially humidifying the space."
The actor better known as Vince’s best friend Eric- or “E”- on Entourage, has been photographed e-smoking indoors at an industry event. E-cigarette users often express gratitude that they no longer have to stand outside in the freezing cold or driving rain to get a short nicotine fix.
Another celebrity who has made significant strides to raise the profile of e-cigarettes is Johnny Depp. The actor actually powered up an e-cigarette during scenes in The Tourist, with Angelina Jolie. One sequence occurs on a train, highlighting the fact that the devices make travelling a far more pleasant experience for smokers.
