Are Electronic Cigarettes A Safe Smoking Alternative

Are e cigs a safe smoking alternative?

When the Surgeon General determined, back in the 1970´s, that cigarette smoking was dangerous to your health because of all the chemical additives and high levels of tar, every cigarette company in the United States and Europe has searched high and low for new ways to lower the amount of chemicals inhaled by smokers. While they have been able to slightly cut the amount of tar and nicotine, ruining the taste of the cigarette in the process, they have run into a wall when they tried to eliminate the other chemicals produced by burning tobacco.

When electronic cigarettes were introduced to the market in 2006 the smoking and non-smoking world was shocked. Not only were all of the other chemicals eliminated, along with the tar, electronic cigarettes were designed to allow the smoker to determine the levels of nicotine he or she takes in with each drag. That’s right. How much nicotine you take in is up to you. This frees smokers to decide if they want to cut their smoking down or even totally out. You can buy refill cartridges with high, medium, low and no nicotine. They are also available in several different flavors like vanilla and chocolate, and of course, menthol. They are sold under several nick-names, like “safe cigarettes” or e-cigarettes, or the smokeless cigarette.

One of the best aspects of electronic cigarettes is that you can use them any where. There are no combustible materials, no chemicals burning, polluting the surrounding air and endangering the health of everyone around you. While they look, feel and even taste like a real cigarette, right down to the temperature of the cigarette itself when you drag on it, they are completely safe to use in any environment.

When first introduced electronic cigarettes were viewed with extreme skepticism by most people, smokers and non-smokers alike. Since that time they have been embraced by the general public and various medical associations. It is advised however, if you are pregnant, or have any serious heart conditions, to check with your family physician before starting them. If you are looking for a good way to cut the habit however, e-cigs are what you are looking for.
