If you are still relying on tobacco products to supply you with nicotine you will soon find yourself way behind the times. In much the same manner that VHS replaced Betamax and Blue ray will soon replace DVD-HD; e-cigs will soon be replacing all tobacco products. But why? What are some of the reasons that tobacco products are going the way of the dinosaur?
Actually there are three main reasons. The first and foremost is health. Electronic cigarettes contain no tar, no carbon monoxide, hydrocyanic acid, carbon dioxide, arsenic, lead or many of the other poisons that you inhale with every drag of a regular cigarette. It may look like a cigarette, taste like a cigarette, but it is missing the toxic chemicals that are produced by burning tobacco smoke.
The second reason that people are switching to electronic cigarettes is cost. In the United States the cost of a pack of cigarettes averages about $6 for generic and can easily climb to over $10 for a brand name cigarette. Each cigarette gives you about 15 drags, and a pack around 300 drags. That is 300 puffs for about $6. A cartridge refill for an electronic cigarette has about 300 drags and there are generally 5 cartridges in a package and a package costs about $10, depending on the brand. That is roughly 5 times the nicotine that you will get for the same price. This doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the economics of switching has to lean toward e-cigs, especially since they are a healthier alternative.
The third reason to switch is political correctness. It is simple really. Considering the health dangers burning tobacco presents lighting up in a public place, especially around children, is not only rude, in many places it is illegal. If you are in a meeting at work and it lasts a long time though, going without your nicotine can cause you to lose focus on what you’re doing. But since e-cigs do not burn anything there are no harmful toxins in the air, no cigarette butts to clean up and no one is offended. Electronic cigarettes actually free you from having to hide around corners or go out in the weather to enjoy your cigarette.
